1) The cross sectional view below shows that the water flows smoothly around the blades which have rotated to a reduced angle of attack. This enables the blades to efficiently create lift and perform like airplane wings or propeller blades.

2) The new Bio-Fin works like a propeller-fin (tm) , the split fin design is far more efficient than the traditional paddle-like fins used by many divers today. The propeller-fin (tm) design improves the fin's effectiveness while reducing the amount of energy the diver must use during his or her kick cycle.
